Gothic Chess is a chess variant. It is very similar to Capablanca Chess, with the difference being starting piece positions. The important things: the game is played on a 10x8 chessboard instead of a regular 8x8 one, and there are 2 more pieces for each side required: an archbishop and a chancellor.

Gothic/Capablanca Chess can be played on a computer or with an improvised board and extra pieces, but an extended board can also be purchased along with a chess set also containing the new pieces.
